I’m in Seattle

October 19th, 2006

The nifty flight deck engineering team at Boeing has agreed to allow me to collect dissertation data on their new Flight Deck of the Future autoflight interface. I’ve worked with them before on the first evaluation of the FDF, and the time has come to create a more rigorous test, with more sophisticated prototypes.

As for me, this test bed provides a great opportunity to validate the claims human computer interaction researchers have been making about the next generation of task analysis methodologies. I’m in touch with our collaborators, and putting together a proposal that compares performance predictions based on computational models with actual human data.

Very exciting stuff. For an overview, check out my portfolio page.
